Fish Tech ("we", "us") provides a fly fishing companion app and website at fishtechapp.com and as a mobile application. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account data — email address, optional display name. Stored to authenticate you.
- Location — when you grant permission, your approximate location is used to find nearby USGS gauges, access points, and to tag catch entries you create. Used in-session only; not sold, not used for advertising.
- Catch log content — species, length, water name, notes, optional photos and voice transcripts that you choose to save.
- Microphone and speech — voice catch logging records audio only while you hold the button. Audio is transcribed and then discarded; the resulting text is saved with your catch.
- Device identifiers — standard request metadata (IP, user agent) used for security and abuse prevention.
How we use it
- To provide app features: maps, gauges, catch log, fly recommendations, alerts.
- To operate your account, send essential transactional email, and respond to support.
- To improve reliability and prevent abuse.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
Third-party services
- USGS Water Services and the National Weather Service — public data sources, no personal data is sent.
- Supabase (database, auth, storage) — our backend host.
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions purchased on the web. Card data goes directly to Stripe; we never see it.
- Apple App Store — when you subscribe through the iOS app, Apple processes the payment.
Your choices
- Revoke location, microphone, or photo permission in your device settings at any time.
- Delete your account and all associated data by emailing the address below.
- Export your catch log on request.
Children
Fish Tech is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this page if the policy changes. Material changes will be announced in the app.
